Maximizing reimbursement through effective clinical management

Aspen Therapy’s teams are second to none. Owing to savvy hiring and retention practices, Aspen Therapy is able to recruit and retain highly skilled physical therapists, (PTs), occupational therapists (OTs) and speech language pathologists (SLPs) with advanced degrees and extensive experience. Ongoing educational opportunities, competency testing and mentoring programs as needed ensure that Aspen Therapy’s therapists are ready to succeed in the long-term care and skilled care environment.

PHYSICAL THERAPY

Physical therapy will assess gait, balance and strength to develop a treatment plan aimed at enabling the individual to achieve the most independent level of mobility and positioning possible. Physical therapist assistants work with the physical therapist to train the individual on customized programs designed to build strength, postural control, coordination, balance and mobility.

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY

Speech therapy provides both dysphagia interventions to promote safe swallowing abilities and cognitive/communication rehabilitation. The majority of our speech language pathologists obtain additional certification such as Neuromuscular Electronic Stimulation (NMES) to maximize swallowing re-training. Cognitive/communication treatments may include techniques to enable the individual to better understand and be understood during daily activities. Approaches may also be developed to enable the individual to effectively and calmly interact with their environment.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Occupational therapy provides the initial evaluation of upper-body mobility and basic cognition to establish self-care strengths and areas for improvement. Occupational therapists also address areas such as positioning and orthotics for those with joint impairments. Occupational therapist assistants work with the occupational therapist to train the individual on techniques to improve their independence with tasks such as dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting and home management, as well as orthotic interventions.

REHABILITATION SERVICES

One of Aspen Therapy’s many strengths is the diversified approach our therapists take in helping their patients return to their highest level of functioning. Upon physician referral, our therapists develop an individualized plan of treatment for each patient. The plan considers such issues as the individual’s medical status, previous level of functioning, the anticipated discharge plan and their current status. Family and caregiver involvement is welcomed and encouraged.

During the rehabilitation process, progressive challenges are provided to ultimately enable the person to achieve their highest level of functioning. When necessary, adaptations are made to maximize a person’s ability to be comfortable and engaged in the environment in a way that is safe and satisfying to the individual.

For those who may be returning to home, an in-home evaluation may be completed with the individual and their families to ensure the most appropriate recommendations are made.
